Michael Whitehead is an AV rated member of the firm. He is a native Mississippian, born January 20 1965. He has been with the firm since 1992. He is married to Cheryl Waltman.  Michael graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi Law School and obtained an LLM (Litigation) (Cum Laude) from Emory Law School.

Michael has been involved in a broad spectrum of complex cases ranging from chemical exposure, flood insurance/National Flood Insurance Program litigation (Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy), real estate litigation, environmental litigation, lender liability, real property valuation issues, groundwater pollution, and collections. Michael has been instrumental in obtaining Lone Pine orders in chemical exposure cases and in significantly lowering claims, rates for certain mass tort defendants by closely scrutinizing the number and type of claims and shedding light on why the claim numbers do not fit with the expected incidence of disease. Michael takes a practical approach to clients’ problems and attempts to economically reach a conclusion with the client’s goals.

Outside of the practice of law, Michael operates a family owned business, which gives him a unique perspective of what clients face when dealing with legal issues. Michael is also the President of The Whitehead Foundation, Inc., a charitable trust assisting mentally handicapped children and adults.
